A great workplace is one where employees trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with. In 2012, we replaced our internal engagement survey with the highly regarded Great Place to Work (GPTW) Survey. The tool assesses employee engagement on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie. The survey combines results from an employee survey and management survey, with the experience of employees being the most important element of the evaluation, accounting for two-thirds of the total score. Leading companies in the world take part in this survey and we are now able to compare ourselves to the best of the best in regards to engagement.
Based on our 2014 results, there is no doubt our employees feel this is a great place to work. On the summary question, “Taking Everything into Account, This is a Great Place to Work”, Yum! Brands scored 81 percent for the global organization and employees responded even higher (84 percent) when responding about the people in their work groups.
In 2014, we reached a 91 percent participation rate in our markets across the globe, including U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Korea, Turkey, Canada, Russia, China, Brazil, Africa, Thailand, and India.
In 2015 we worked hard to take action on our 2014 GPTW results, hosting consulting sessions and developing actions plans to make our organization an even better place to work. Our Canada team even created a diverse squad of employees called “PowerUp.” The squad’s mandate is to take action on the GPTW feedback through employee data mining sessions and focus groups. The squad develops the overall action plan and owns the plan with the Leadership Team. The squad earned a tremendous amount of credibility since it’s led completely by employees!
We also couldn’t be prouder of the success of GPTW in our global markets. For example, in 2015 KFC U.K. and Ireland placed in the top 25 GPTW and has been accredited as a top employer for the sixth year in a row in the U.K.
